Buildings account for 40% of the energy consumed today in EU, but annual renovation rates are limited to 0.4/1.2% in Europe. Also, a large share of buildings has more than 40 years and it is not adequately heated, bringing to a low efficiency of the building stock in terms of energy and comfort1.

Interoperability in the construction sector is a key issue and researchers, developers and designers have tackled since the introduction of CAD systems. Traditionally, engineers, architects and site operators interact and track their information exchange through paper or digitalized drawings and e-mails. With the introduction of Building Information Modelling (BIM) techniques and tools, operators are using new solutions and methods to keep track and exploit these data.

The 10 houses of Hem are the first homes rehabilitated in France to zero energy and any form of consumption guaranteed for 25 years. Energiesprong is an initiative initiated in the Netherlands in 2013. Vilogia tested in France the first prototypes of this approach on 10 houses built in 1950 in Hem near Lille. Vilogia aims to rehabilitate 500 homes over 5 years using the same method. The Energiesprong method is as follows: using the current technological tools (digital and industrial method) to rehabilitate a dwelling in 3 weeks.
