The Commission has launched 2 public consultations today on the revision of the Renewable Energy Directive and the Energy Efficiency Directive.
The objective of these 12 week consultations is to seek a wide range of views on to what extent and how these 2 directives should be revised. This will feed into the preparation of Commission proposals next year.

Many new largely solar-heated houses in Germany are multi-family buildings, and their number is growing, according to Sonnenhaus-Institut (Solar House Institute), an alliance of about 300 architects, planners, building companies and system integrators that specialise in the design or construction of houses where sunlight provides at least 50 % of the heat and, in some cases, electricity a year.

The two banks will finance energy efficiency and renewable energy projects deployed by Polish homeowners, micro-farmers and housing associations.
Leveraging the agreement with EIB, BNP Paribas Bank Polska will be able to provide €166.7 million ($193.9 million) of new financing for energy efficiency projects.

Innsbruck is one of the pilot cities of the FP7 project SINFONIA, and selected its eastern district to demonstrate the large scale implementation of energy efficient measures, with the objective of achieving on average 40 – 50% primary energy savings in the demo sites and to increase at least by 30% the share of renewables in the district’s energy mix.
