  The Energy Efficiency Directive 2012/27/EU (the EED or the Directive), adopted in 2012, forms a key part of the EU's overall climate and energy legislative package, laying down the foundation for actions to be taken in order to help realise the energy efficiency potential of the European economy. All EU Member States are required to implement policy measures that improve energy efficiency at all stages of the energy chain from production to final consumption.
