An important public building in the most populated city of Zagreb county, Velika Gorica, this kindergarten was in need of energy renovation as it was expensive to run and uncomfortable for its occupants. Having become an eco-school, the management realised that energy renovation was essential to underpin the new ethos of the school.

It will also be an opportunity to highlight the importance of the European Green Deal and the next programming period.

The SISMA tool is a guidance for local public authorities for better planning investments on deep renovation in public buildings, without the need of deep technical expertise and without submission of huge amounts of data.

The grant will be implemented through KfW via financing agreements to be signed by the end of 2019. The period of implementation is four years.
It is expected that approximately 40 buildings will be renovated, while about 15% of the funds will be used for accompanying services, such as the implementation consultant, design work, supervision, detailed energy audits, and building energy certification, KfW told Balkan Green Energy News.

The activities of the ENERJ project aim at supporting local governments in achieving energy efficiency targets in their own municipal building stock through joint actions in a multi-level governance approach. Joint actions are intended as multiple local authorities joining forces for implementing their energy retrofit goals at centralised level, optimising resources and boosting effectiveness.

The grants are part of a EUR 100,000 project funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) under a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July with the Secretariat for Energy, Construction, and Transportation of the provincial government.
Vojvodina Deputy Prime Minister Đorđe Milićević said the grants mark the beginning of years-long effort to conduct energy efficiency audits at all 3,000 public buildings in Vojvodina.
