European Green Cities Awards have been announced

Vilnius wins 2025 European Green Capital award. Viladecans and Treviso both win European Green Leaf 2025 awards for their sustainability efforts.

Vilnius (Lithuania) has been named the 2025 European Green Capital, with a focus on reducing emissions and fostering citizen engagement through innovative technological solutions. The city's holistic approach intertwines sustainability initiatives with residents' well-being, emphasising clean air, water, biodiversity, and green spaces. Viladecans (Spain) and Treviso (Italy) were awarded European Green Leaf 2025 awards for their outstanding community engagement and innovative strategies.

Vilnius receives a €600,000 prize, while Viladecans and Treviso receive €200,000 each to support their environmental initiatives. The awards highlight cities' important roles in achieving the European Green Deal's ambitious goals and inspiring other urban centres toward a greener future.
