Smart technologies can help improving energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings

Editorial Team

According to Paul McCarthy, CTO at Service Works Global, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital twins can improve energy efficiency and reaching sustainability goals. To maximise the potential of data coming from the smart building, there should be three main areas of digital construction working together: facility management systems, BIM information, and real-time sensors delivering data.

In fact, a BIM model per se does not provide much impact, but it does reach relevant impact when combined with operational systems and sensor data. All these more detailed information can support in decision-making and improve user´s experience and energy efficiency.
