5 Years of Educational Buildings conformant with the Efficiency House Plus Standard

Heike Erhorn-Kluttig

Seven educational buildings meeting the Efficiency House Plus standard are presented and cross-evaluated in the brochure. The Efficiency House Plus standard is a definition of the German Building Ministry for plus energy buildings taking into account the energy uses according to EPBD (heating, DHW, cooling, ventilation, lighting and auxiliary) and additionally the user electricity.

The plus energy balance is made over one year, is calculated with the German standard DIN V 18599 and allows to balance the energy needs with generated energy from renewables on the building plot, that is either used by the building or fed into the local grid. The balance of the final energy as well as the primary energy has to result into excess renewable energy generated on the plot. The operation of all seven educational buildings is climate neutral.
