The surge in energy prices following Russia's invasion of Ukraine has led to increased demand for energy-efficient heating devices, particularly heat pumps, in countries like Slovakia. This heightened demand has triggered a wave of new investments in Slovakia, with existing manufacturers expanding production and Western European firms seeking locations for new facilities. 

Slovakia is recognised as highly attractive for companies producing modern and sustainable heating technology, as noted by the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency. In 2023, Dutch heat pump manufacturer BDR Thermea applied for state investment aid, joining a growing list of companies manufacturing heat pumps in Slovakia. In 2022, Europe witnessed a 39% increase, selling 3 million heat pumps.
