The UK Prime Minister's announcement in September relieved landlords from the obligation to meet the minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C by 2025 for new tenancies and 2028 for existing tenancies. However, this change may be temporary, with future regulations likely. Energy efficiency is gaining importance due to the cost of living and the climate emergency.

A survey revealed that 70% of respondents nationwide prioritise eco-friendly properties. Landlords, while welcoming cost savings, may find long-term benefits in energy-efficient upgrades, potentially attracting higher rents. With 13% of renters willing to pay a premium for low-carbon properties, investing in energy efficiency proves financially prudent, aligning with the push towards Net Zero.
