Thermos web-energy planning software for heating and cooling

Developed within the THERMOS project, THERMOS is a free web-based energy planning tool for heating and cooling networks.
Editorial Team

THERMOS, a free web-based energy planning software from the EU-funded project THERMOS, streamlines district energy network planning. It analyses heat and cool network options, optimising for low-carbon systems and system upgrades. Unlike traditional methods, THERMOS offers rapid, place-specific solutions, identifying optimal paths and connections. By integrating precise mapping and energy demand estimations, it facilitates expansion, source matching, and performance assessment of district heating and cooling networks.

Utilising machine-learning models and algorithms, THERMOS enables users to define criteria and solve complex planning problems efficiently. It offers flexibility, accuracy, and transparency, making planning processes simpler, cost-effective, and accessible globally, enhancing local pre-feasibility planning.

The tool can be used by anyone tasked with local energy planning (e.g. local and regional government, DHC utilities, urban development departments and companies, research and academia, etc.).
