The study defines the approach of the "heat pump readiness" of buildings which was tested on 30 building around Europe, and it also gives policy recommendations to realise the full potential of its deployment.

Heat pumps have a crucial role in the decarbonisation of the EU building stock, and they can also promote low-temperature district heating systems. It is thus important to understand of building envelopes are fit for heat pump installation and deployment. Energy performance certificates (EPCs) have an important role in conveying this information, especially to building owners.
